How to Style Faux Flower Stems


Our faux flower and foliage stems are designed to be mixed, shaped and styled to suit your space. Combine statement flowers with softer sprays and foliage, varying the heights to create a more natural look. Stems can be bent or trimmed to suit your vase, and keeping your arrangement a little relaxed and asymmetrical can help give it that just-gathered feel.

How many faux flower stems do I need for a vase?

There’s no set number! It all depends on the size and shape of your vase (particulary the ‘neck’ of the vase) and how full you’d like your arrangement to look. As a guide, start with a few statement flowers, then add softer stems and foliage at varying heights. For a more relaxed, natural look, we find that an arrangement doesn’t need to be perfectly symmetrical or overly full.

Can artificial flower stems be cut or bent?

Yes. Most faux flower stems have a wired centre, allowing them to be gently bent and shaped to suit your arrangement. They can also be shortened using wire cutters, although bending the stem is a great option if you’d like the flexibility to use it in a taller vase in the future.

How can I make faux flowers look more realistic?

The key is to style them much as you would fresh flowers. Vary the height and direction of your stems, mix flowers with natural-looking foliage and avoid making the arrangement too uniform. Gently shaping individual stems, fluffing out each individual branch and allowing a few to sit slightly away from the main arrangement creates a softer, more naturally gathered look.
